Introduction to the kind of cave dwelling:
1、Yazhuang kilns are usually located on the side of a mountain or ditch. They use the cliff to flatten the cliff surface first, then build a village and dig a kiln. The "Tao Fu" in "Tao Fu Tao Xue" refers to Mingzhuang kilns. There are one village with three kilns and five kilns, and there are also more than five kilns.

2. Earth pit caves are all built on large depressions in the plains. First, a rectangular pit is dug on the flat ground, usually five to eight meters deep. The four sides of the pit are cut into cliff faces. Then cave dwellings are dug on the four cliffs, and a long slope path or inclined hole is built on one side, leading directly to the original surface as a pedestrian path. The "Taoxue" in "Tao Fu Taoxue" refers to this kind of sunken earth pit village. This kind of cave dwelling is actually a basement, and the characteristics of "warm in winter and cool in summer" are more prominent.

3. Hoop kilns are usually built with earth and straw mud as the foundation wall and arched kiln roof. The kiln roof is filled with soil in a double slope, smoothed with straw mud, with short rafters pressed in front and back to form eaves. Some are also covered with green tiles on the surface. From a distance, it looks like a house, but from a close distance, it is a kiln. The cave house hooped with rectangular or square stones is called a stone hoop kiln.

Nowadays, cave dwellings are all built with stone arches. There is a 5-star cave hotel in Yan'an, which has a unique stone carving style on the outside and a carved beam and painted building on the inside, which is quiet and comfortable.
